Peggys Cove! Prime Tourist Watching

So we decided to take a vacation today - to Peggys Cove :)! We zoomed down after a lazy morning of watching Sports Centre on loop. I totally forgot how turny and twisty, uppy and down the road is to Peggys Cove, so naturally 1/4 of the way there I was green. So slowly we travelled, thought at one point we were lost, BUT we arrived and it was wonderful! There was a huge crowd which was surprising, but the waves weren't up so all there was to watch was the tourists. The whole point of our trip was to take some pictures and then play around with them in the new photo editing program Aperture. This is a preview of our photos we took :)!

The Jim Connors Chair

We have been blessed to inherit the Jim Connors lazyboy chair from 56 highland/ The Connors Family, and so we felt it was important to make sure it was made comfortable in its new home. This chair has so much history that we wanted to make sure it was properly taken care of as it is likely as old if not older than us. The chair is never empty because it is SO comfortable. Our two little kitties have made their self at home on it to take their naps and snuggle together. It's also my morning chair where I have my coffee and sit in the sunshine in our livingroom. Since it gets so much traffic, Mom made us a really nice chair cover for it to keep off all the cat hair. Sirius has made himself very comfortable on it, I'm really glad it hasn't affected the chairs popularity. As I write this blog both of the boys are relaxing on it, see pic below!

My Plants Potted!

Okay so I spent the evening planting everything! Now they are ready to soak up the sun soon... now I wait for green!

Exciting Beginings

Hello Blog # 3!

Home from work it was a wonderful day where I learned a great deal about pest products, my most favourite moment being when someone asked if we had mice poison that disintegrate the mice when they ate it. I had a mental picture of Marvin the Martian from Bugs Bunny blasting someone with his ray gun set on "disintegrate". Being new to this I thought this was a joke, and laughed and commented about how nice that would be to make pesty mice disappear. But the customer was serious and so I said "Hmm I don't know but I will check for you." Since everyone was on lunch I popped out back and asked them, and received a HUGE laugh from the lunch room. FYI - there is no such product.

My wedding plans are going ahead well, I've secured a stand for the big cake! I don't want to give too much about the actual details of the cake, BUT I will show you the new stand I picked up over the weekend :). It was a great deal, and you can see how big it is from Scotts lovely modeling abilities. I'm going to make some demo cakes this week, I'm still waiting on a tool to come in the mail from eBay. Very exciting!

Also my big project tonight is planting some seeds to have in our garden. Since we went home yesterday as a surprise for mothers day, I inherited a bundle of plant pots and ideas from mom. So I am planting sunflowers out front by our front deck, and having two hanging pots off the railing with Coneflowers and Nasturtium in them. I've already planted rows of lettuce, Chinese lantern plants and sensitive plants. I also have two little needle trees (Pine or Spruce or something I got for free from the NSLC as an enviromental promotion) that are doing quite well in pots. Tonight I'm also planting my carrots so they can get going.
Enjoy photos!

Mothers Day Fun!

So we rushed to the Valley this morning to surprise mom for when she got back from church. It was very fun to be waiting on the front step to wave when she pulled in! We had hoped to garden all day with mom as a nice mothers day present, however it rained so instead of digging in the gardens I weeded the front lawn with a really cool weeding tool that we have at Halifax Seed. At Halifax Seed it is called "Grandpas Weeder" and its a poll with a contraption on the end for pulling weeds out of the ground. I was skeptical, but it turned out to be a really rewarding activity as I tried to hone my skills on pulling out the full weed in one movement. I did three buckets of weeds from the front yard while mom sorted out her pots and Dad and Scott did some work on the fence in the garage.
After Dinner I learned how to make a culinary masterpiece that mom has made for her little boy at school - Octapus hotdogs. Fairly straight forward how to make, but entirely cute! I will need to practice making the faces, but overall first attempt was successful!

New Beginings!

Okay so new beginings calls for a new blog. New house, New city, New School ... New new new! Here I will record all my adventures in Wedding, Home improvement and Baking!
